The Great Sherry Tasting is the annual trade and press tasting for Sherry Wines UK and is the largest tasting of Sherry Wines outside Jerez - taking place in its most dynamic and important export market, the UK. Over 40 producers will be represented at the event by the UK’s leading Sherry importers who will be showing nearly 200 wines for you to taste. Plus, the masterclasses are back, popular as ever.
12.00pm - 1.00pm Palomino: The great Sherry grape
Hosted by Joe Fattorini
To think all dry Sherry is made using just one grape is astonishing because dry Sherry comes in many guises. Join this masterclass to get under the skin of Palomino and discover there is more to this variety than being just a young, light base wine as it evolves through the solera. Guests will be presented with a range of eight wines from Manzanilla to Oloroso.
3.00pm - 4.00pm Marco de Jerez: Vineyards and landscapes of Jerez
Hosted by Jamie Goode
It is true that the secret to Sherry lies in its ageing and notably the influence of 'flor' but it is equally true that great wines begin life in the vineyard. In this masterclass the soil, landscape and unique vineyards will be plotted in detail to give the audience an insight into the provenance of Jerez’ wines – accompanied with a selection of wines that illustrate the importance of location as well as 'flor'.
