Sherry takes to the Stage at the Northern Restaurant & Bar Show

03 April 2017

NRB is one of the UK's largest Trade Hospitality exhibitions, comprising over 300 exhibitors and 65 live demos over two days. Sherry once again proved itself to be a hot topic for discussion by featuring in two demonstrations, on the Market Kitchen and Drinks Live stages.

The first was hosted by Woodalls Charcuterie, who demonstrated the sublime pairings that can be made by pairing various Valdespino sherries with their range of British meats. We all know that fino pairs wonderfully with Spanish Jamon, so it makes sense that it is also the perfect partner for air dried Cumbrian Ham.

The second demonstration featured the range of Sherries offered by Osborne, along with a glimpse into the history of their iconic Toro brand, the Bull standing proudly on the horizon, familiar with any visitor to Spain.

Bartender Adam Day, of Mr Cooper's House & Garden, then provided a masterclass in Sherry cocktail creation, with two elegant recipes using Fino and Pedro Ximenez.

Try the cocktails for yourself by following the recipes and decide whether you have a taste for the PX 'Ferry to Islay' or the Fino 'Break in the Clouds'.

The two days showcased just how versatile Sherry Wines can be as an offering for both restaurants and bars, providing drinks that are perfect for aperitif, pairing with dinner or a late night cocktail.
