Markus J. Eser

As the son of an old family wine business in the Rheingau dating back to 1759, Markus learnt about growing grapes and producing wine from a young age. After a three-year apprenticeship as a winemaker in Rheinhessen and Rheingau, he studied International Business Administration in Wiesbaden and Seville. It was an internship at González Byass in Jerez de la Frontera during his Business studies that set the stage for his love for the Sherry-World and Andalusian lifestyle. During his studies in Seville he also joined the “Tuna Económicas de Sevilla” and become a member.

Working in different roles in sales and marketing for international wine producers such as Gallo, Freixenet, Mondavi, Hardys and Concha y Toro followed. During his time with Freixenet Markus successfully studied at the Wine and Spirit Education Trust (WSET) for the „Diploma in Wines & Spirit”. He then studied at the prestigious „Institute of Masters of Wine“ in London. Markus is a Sherry-Ambassador, Spanish Wine Educator, Culture and Wine Ambassador of the Rheingau and a taster at international tastings and competitions like Berlin Wine Trophy. In 2019 he released his first tear-off wine calendar with the goal to educate a wide audience about the beauty of wine in an informative and entertaining way, show all the cultural and agricultural contributions of the wine industry and support children’s cancer organizations in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
