Guest Pour & Pair from Melissa Cole

14 December 2015

Author of Let Me Tell You About Beer, Melissa Cole has carved a niche as a respected female writer, taster, educator, judge and drinks consultant in the UK market.  But it doesn't stop with Beer, she is also a Sherry lover and regularly experiments with cooking with sherry and pairing sherries with food. Melissa was also named one of the Most Powerful Women in the Drinks Industry by Channel4 Food.

Her guest Pour and Pair recipe focuses on using seasonal vegetables and offers a sherry twist on a classic pork chop. She makes the most of the root vegetables and squashes available at this time of year."I used purple carrots, butternut squash, sweet potato & parsnip, served with loads of wonderful cavalo nero! I can’t recommend getting a digital temperature probe highly enough; it will tell you when your pork is done and prevent it from drying out."

Melissa writes & broadcasts extensively on the subject of beer, she is invited to judge at beer competitions from London to Italy and Amsterdam to America, having built a reputation as having a fine palate and fun approach to all things brewed.

As a sommALEier she is lucky enough to work with some of the UK’s leading chefs to help the leisure and hospitality trade build a better understanding of beer and its deserved place alongside fine food and is the country’s leading exponent of corporate tastings and beer experiences.
