Sherry Week "International Sherry Wine Week" From November 6th to November 12th, the entire world celebrates International Sherry Wine Week.
Sherry is one of the oldest and most popular wine regions on the planet. Grapevines were cultivated here by the Phoenicians as early as the 10th century BC. Its strategic location on important trade routes between Europe, Africa, and the New World, along with its unique terroir, has given rise to a rich culture and traditions passed down through local wines.
That's why we can't overlook such an event and declare Sherry Week in Almaty! Moreover, our head teacher, Artem Lebedev, is a certified instructor and ambassador for the wines of the region.
Professional Course (Morning):
November 6th: General Introduction to Dry Sherries • History • Terroir • Varietals • Production methods • Tasting of major styles
November 7th: Focus on Biological Aging • Flor and its impact on wine • The influence of biological aging on varietals, terroir, and winemaking • Tasting of Fino, Manzanilla, and other examples
November 8th: Focus on Oxidative Aging • The impact of oxidation on wine • The influence of oxidative aging on varietals, terroir, and winemaking • Tasting of Oloroso, Amontillado, and Palo Cortado
November 9th: Focus on Sweet Styles • Grape varieties used • Terroir • Production characteristics • Tasting of Moscatel and Pedro Ximénez • Tasting of Cream Sherry varieties
November 10th: Focus on Other Sherry Specialties • Brandy de Jerez • Vermouths • Cocktails
November 12th: Sherry Staff Party Cost: 40,000 tenge (includes staff party).
Each day of the course can be purchased separately for 15,000 tenge.

November 9th: Sherry Dinner at Afisha, possibly followed by an After Party (costs and conditions are currently unknown)
November 10th and 11th: Sherries • History • Terroir • Varietals • Production methods • Tasting of major styles • Gastronomy Cost (November 10th and 11th): 10,000 tenge.
Throughout the evening, any* wines from the program can be purchased to take home at special prices.
